What is Kindness?By Rich DuBose

"An act of kindness is a spontaneous gesture of goodwill towards someone or something - our fellow humans, the animal kingdom, and the kingdom of nature. Kind words and deeds come from a state of benevolence, generated by a core response deep within all of us. When we carry out an act of kindness it is a message from one heart to another, an act of love, an unspoken "I care" statement." --Australian Kindness Movement
Reasons to be Kind
Kindness rises above what is convenient or expedient. It is a deliberate decision to act or behave in a certain way because of one's ideals or beliefs. Most businesses understand the important of treating people with grace, and they drill it into their employees to always give the customer the benefit of the doubt. Why? Because the customers are the kings and queens of business, meaning that without them, there would be no stores, products, sales, or jobs!
Jesus calls us to a form of kindness that rises above personal gain and advantage. Treating others with goodness and grace is hard to do if they are being obnoxious and cruel. But Jesus said we're to do it anyway, "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you" (Luke 6:31, NASB).
